We all play an important role in keeping our homes and community safe. Being cautious, aware, and taking simple precautions can greatly reduce the risk of fires.

Your home is equipped with a Smoke Alarm to help keep you safe. These devices are required by law and save lives by alerting you to the presence of smoke or fire. DO NOT disconnect them. Your smoke alarms must be properly installed and operational at all times. For any issues with your smoke alarm, contact our 24/7 Call Centre at 613-731-1182.

Always ensure that you have valid tenant’s insurance

If a fire occurs in your home and you do not have tenant insurance, you may face significant financial challenges:

  • OCH and its Insurance Company do not cover the loss of your personal belongings.
  • You are responsible for finding temporary housing.
  • If you, a family member or a guest is responsible for the fire, you may be held financially liable for the damages.
